My Lockdown Expedition!

The day I reached back to my flat from the airport, was the day lockdown implemented for a day. Afterwards, the Prime Minister announced a lockdown for the next 21 days to be executed from 25th March, 2020 onwards and later it was extended till 31st May,2020.

Since 2017, I started living independently, hence living alone for me was not a difficult task. I had to quarantine for the next 14 days as per the protocol and I followed the same. On the first day, Ravi (my best friend) bought some groceries early in the morning and kept it outside of my flat. Initially, whenever he went for the grocery shopping, he bought some for me as well and always kept it at the same place. Later on a grocery store downstairs started the home delivery service. So, I just used to call them and they delivered the things which I ordered within an hour, which was quite convenient.

I was occupied during the day with my office work and in the evening I used to do things which could make me busy and productive. My working hours were from 8 in the morning till 5 in the evening. Hence, after completing my office work I thought of performing some physical activities. I used to go to the gym in the evening, therefore it was a part of my daily routine. But I never tried to practice a home workout earlier. For the first few days I referred to a video on YouTube and I started doing the 20 min power cardio workout. But I was not enjoying it, so I thought of doing something else. I didn’t have any weight equipment, so I couldn’t lift the weights. Hence, I thought of doing Yoga and the last time I did yoga was in the year 2016. I searched for a couple of videos and started following it. Eventually, I started enjoying it and did it 5-6 times a week.

Post my workout, I used to freshen up and have my evening tea. After that I tried to cook and learn various new kinds of cuisines. As I love to cook so for me it was not a difficult task. So I used to watch videos on YouTube and make some delicious food and later on enjoy it while watching some series or movie over Netflix. After that, I used to clean my kitchen and talk to my dad. Furthermore, my cousins used to call over almost every day for chit-chats. Since most of them were living alone, we thought of why not to spend some time together virtually. In between the calls sometimes I used to paint, but most of the time lots of skin & hair care. On weekends, I and Ravi used to meet for evening snacks and dinner. We both were free from office work and used to live nearby. This was sort of my daily routine for the following two months.

Overall, my lockdown experience was quite good. I used to feel very productive throughout the day. The lockdown made me more close to my family and pals who live away from me. But some days, I used to get anxiety of living alone away from everyone. Because, at the end you need your loved ones around you. This virus has made me realize, how important are the people around you and you have only one life. So, try to be communicative as much as you can, because we never know what’s going to happen next.

Thankyou for taking out time and reading it. Stay safe and healthy.
